The war on sugar means the demise of sticky, gourmand fragrances in personal care also home care. New signals that bitter could be edging into popularity include the following examples:

In the US, Mountain Dew has launched a new variant called Black Label, which is “crafted with herbal bitters”.

Seedlip, a new sophisticated non-alcoholic beverage from the UK combines individually distilled barks, spices and citrus peels.

Hopwater from the US is a “refreshing all-natural craft soda with the aroma and pleasing bitterness of hops”.

The slogan of Hopwater “it’s a little bitter, just like us” says it all… Enjoy the week! Yours, Franziska

1 Cathedral street, London, next to UK’s earliest gothic cathedral and on the site of an ancient monastery… What else than Alcoholic Architecture could possibly happen here?!?

Bompas & Parr’s Alcoholic Architecture is located in Borough Market, featuring a walk-in cloud of breathable cocktail as part of an installation that explodes drinks to the scale of architecture. In this fully immersive alcohol environment – the cloud is entirely composed of fine spirits and mixer at a ratio of 1:3 and made using powerful humidifiers to super-saturate the air – alcohol enters the bloodstream through primarily the lungs but also the eyeballs.

The drinks list is entirely comprised of spirits and beers created by monks: potations such as Chartreuse, Benedictine, Trappist beer and even the notorious Buckfast – a savage fortified wine. All will be featured in elegantly balanced, refined and luxurious conventionally served drinks that guests can take back into the cloud.

Visits to Alcoholic Architecture are based on timed entries and experiences are limited to a maximum of 50 minutes per group. A session costs between 10-12,50 GBP.

It was about time! The world was waiting for this 😉 Yours, Fran

Crocodile oil – from the fat of farmed crocodiles – is claimed to be highly moisturising and anti-inflammatory…

Kwena

I was not surprised to see it pop up in South Korea, but in fact it’s already in the UK!

Repcillin has just added hair care to the crocodile line: “Combining the healing benefits of pure Nile Crocodile Oil with other high-performing ingredients, this versatile product range offers authentic skincare solutions to various skin issues and conditions”.

To be honest, i’m wondering about the ethical part of it… what is your opinion on this?

Yours, Fran

New dessert-inspired textures are hitting the market in the beauty care category.

For instance, in the UK Sanctuary Spa has launched a air whipped line.

On their website is says: “A dessert for your skin, this whipped Crème Soufle can be scooped out and slathered all over for instantly softer skin that looks good enough to eat.”

This texture is already popular in other parts of the world.

Lets feel sexy!!! Yours, Fran

Everyone knows how important sleep is for our health. Not so much the quantity, but mostly the quality. The market for non-drug sleep aid seems to be constantly growing.

Kiss the moon

The UK based company called Kiss the Moon picks up on this trend by launching facial and bath oils. 100% natural ingredients should apparently help us to fall asleep more easily and calmly.

There are 4 different fragrance variants on the market: Love, Glow, Calm, Dream

Kiss the moon 2

Nice concept! Don’t fall asleep now though 😉

Yours, Fran
